Africa

How do you capture the essence of Africa on paper without using up every cliché in the book? No other continent comes close to it for scale, variety and pure, raw impact. Africa’s natural history alone would make a dozen visits worthwhile – where else on earth can you fall asleep to the sound of lions roaring, or watch a million flamingos take off from the waters of a remote soda lake?

Parts of Africa boast inconceivable scenery, but the essence of this incredible continent is in the spirit of the people. Debate with venerable merchants among the cool, narrow streets of an Arabic medina, dance to the thumping reggae beats coming from a West African market stall, or shoot the breeze with fishermen under Indian Ocean palm trees, and you’ll be struck by the honesty, warm-heartedness and vitality of the African people.

Asia

Asia sticks to you. The joss sticks lit for the household shrines in Thailand impart a sweet perfume to the thick air. The heavenly aroma of Indian spices follows you for days.

Architectural wonders and sacred spaces abound from the Great Wall of China and the temples of Angkor to lesser known marvels in Myanmar, Nepal and Afghanistan. From sublime coastlines to snow capped mountains, rolling landscapes fed by the monsoon rains and frenetic cities fizzling with energy, Asia’s landscapes are mind-boggling diverse. As are their highlights from trekking Malaysia's steamy jungles and wildlife spotting in southern India to riding horses through the Mongolian steppes, skiing Japan's Alps and dodging falling coconuts on of the continents many remote islands.

Caribbean

Azure waters, white beaches, polychromatic culture – the clichés of the Caribbean are enough to make you want to visit. From volcanic peaks to extraordinary reefs, and from the luxe playgrounds of the wealthy to the heady salsas of local culture, you’ll find something that will lure you to this diverse and surprising mixture of sea and land.

The Caribbean speaks for itself with it's breathtaking scenery, welcoming people and fabulous food. Each island is very unique in and of itself, offering a multiplicity of history, culture, relaxation and fun!

Europe

Thanks to the continent's huge global influence, newcomers find it foreign and, at the same time, reassuringly familiar. Often dubbed a 'living museum', this is a place rich in history and tradition. Fairy-tale castles cast their shadows over lush green valleys and Gothic churches stand proudly amid beautifully preserved medieval towns. Galleries overflow with masterpieces from the likes of Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rodin, Van Gogh and Picasso.

This complex region presents a patchwork of varied landscapes and an enticing smorgasbord of more than 30 nationalities. Although it's steeped in the past, Europe isn't living in it. Ancient monuments such as Athens' Acropolis and Rome's Colosseum sit amid vibrant, thriving cities. Paris and Prague might look quaint, but their attitude is definitely contemporary and cosmopolitan, while buzzing multicultural metropolises such as Berlin and London are visibly 21st-century cities.

North America

Follow the heartbeat of North America through towering forests, undulating fields, high-plain deserts, pulsating metropolises and offbeat oases. Whether you plan to dive headlong into the exhilarating whirlwind of New York, or schuss down the slopes of the Great White North, this is a continent whose boundless menu of activities and sights allow you to calibrate your itinerary to whatever level of adventure you choose.

Venture on a Canadian wilderness trek, buckle up for the legendary road trip along Route 66 or explore ancient rites at mysterious Maya and Aztec ruins in Mexico. Whatever your travel dreams, North America offers a kaleidoscope of cultures, cuisines, landscapes, history and adventures.

Pacific

From the lazy beaches of the South Pacific and Micronesia where coconuts fall and time is lost to the thrumming capitals of Australia and New Zealand, this is a region where the rainforest meets the sea (and city) with jaw dropping landscapes and vibrant metropolises offering a myriad of opportunities for exploring incredible culture, festivals and food.

Embrace the tyranny of distance. Whether you’re floating the sunset away in Tuvalu or floating down Tasmania’s Franklin River, the Pacific offers more islands than you can shake a snorkel at.

South America

Back in the salad days (sometime between 12, 500 and 70, 000 years ago), humans migrated from Asia to Alaska over a land bridge across the Bering Strait and slowly hunted and gathered their way south. Settled agriculture developed in South America between 5000 BC and 2500 BC in and around present-day Peru, and the emerging societies ultimately developed into major civilizations, of which the Inca empire was the most sophisticated.

The northern and western fringes are dominated by the andes Mountains, which happens to be the second highest mountain range in the world. The week long celebration of  Inti Raymi, Festival of the Sun in Cuzco, Peru draws hundreds of thousands of visitors and is the second largest festival in South America. San Pedro de Atacama, an oasis in the middle of the Atacama desert in northern Chile, has supported life since 11,000 BC and is now a prime destination for travelers interested in natural wonders and archaeological ruins.
